The Ability Collective of Barry County (ACBC)

1. Purpose

‍Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the mission of The Ability Collective of Barry County (ACBC). This Volunteer Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behavior and responsibilities while volunteering with ACBC programs, events, and services.

2. Scope

‍This policy applies to all individuals volunteering in any capacity with ACBC, including short-term, event-based, and ongoing roles. By agreeing to volunteer with ACBC, individuals commit to upholding the principles outlined in this Code of Conduct.

3. Core Expectations

‍All ACBC volunteers are expected to:

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for participants and fellow volunteers
  • Act honestly and with integrity in all interactions
  • Respect confidentiality and privacy of participants, staff, and sensitive information
  • Follow the guidance of ACBC staff and leadership
  • Represent ACBC positively in both in-person and digital spaces
  • Refrain from using discriminatory, abusive, or inappropriate language or behavior
  • Report any incidents, safety concerns, or misconduct to an ACBC staff member promptly

4. Confidentiality

‍Volunteers may have access to personal or sensitive information. Volunteers agree to maintain the confidentiality of any such information and refrain from disclosing it without explicit authorization.

5. Health & Safety

‍Volunteers are expected to follow all safety procedures as instructed by ACBC staff and to act responsibly to avoid harm to themselves or others. This includes reporting unsafe conditions and cooperating in emergency situations.

6. Use of Media & Photography

‍Volunteers must respect ACBC's media policy and may not take or share photos or videos of participants without prior written consent and an appropriate release form on file.

7. Grounds for Dismissal

‍ACBC reserves the right to dismiss any volunteer whose behavior violates this Code of Conduct or otherwise compromises the safety, integrity, or mission of the organization.

8. Agreement

‍All volunteers will be asked to sign an acknowledgment form agreeing to abide by this Code of Conduct prior to beginning their service with ACBC.
